Overview

The Residential Treatment Counselor Lead is responsible in establishing and ensuring staff are maintaining appropriate therapeutic relationships with individual youth in a residential home.  Leads are also responsible for supporting the development of pro-social skills through referring to the individualized treatment plan specific to the youths needs. The RTC Leads assist to provide supervision of the residents and Residential Treatment Counselor’s (RTC) ensuring tasks are completed and in compliance with Program policy and procedures.  Must have a desire to lead others, support Agency directives, leading by example.  This position provides an opportunity to learn and develop leadership skills with the intent to build a career in leadership with the Agency.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule Medical/Dental/Options Appointments and ensure all youth have Rx’s as prescribed.
  • Oversee grocery shopping, preparation and planning of nutritional meals.
  • Participate in the planning and transportation of youth for all activities/meetings.
  • Actively engage with youth through play, activities, outings and therapeutic group work.
  • Work directly with youth and in developing and building healthy skills for areas that need to be improved.
  • Ensure that Youth are in line of sight at all times and that all staff comply at all times.
  • Demonstrate skills in non-violent crisis intervention and physical restraint as necessary.
  • Ensure that all required paperwork, including progress notes, incident reports, and medication logs are completed and submitted on-time and correctly.
  • Maintain accurate medication logs and ensure accurate administering of medication to residents. Completing sleep logs if necessary, tallies, progress notes and other appropriate logs/documentation.
  • Support and assist supervisor in the development and completion of clinical documents as prescribed by the agency and in accordance with BRS standards.
  • Help train and ensure that RTC’s are completing incident reports and other documentation correctly.
  • Responsible for day-to-day operations of the Residential Program including guiding and supporting RTC’s that are on shift. 
  • Assist in communicating pertinent information and maintain open communication to other line-staff, supervisor, program manager, program coordinator as necessary and work cooperatively as a team member.
  • Assist supervisor in creating and supporting a positive team environment, ensuring compliance with the Respectful Workplace policy and addressing violations immediately.
  • Transport youth as arranged and assigned.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate lines of communication with parents of assigned youth.
  • Observe all agency policies and procedures.
  • Maintain high ethical standards with regard to treatment and client confidentiality.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or 4 years of combination of formal education and experience with children or young adults required.  Supervisory/Leadership experience preferred.  Must be an excellent communicator with the skills to acknowledge the needs of others and recognizing various points of view.  Must have a driver’s license and satisfactory driving record. Must be able to clear a background check conducted through ODHS.

Wage:

 

$19.99 - $36.86 per hour DOE
